Proverbs 31:18 “She sees that her trading is profitable, and her lamp does not go out at night.”
I started meditating and asking God what this scripture means. The scripture that came to me was Psalm 119:105, “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” The Word says, “She tastes and sees that her gain from the work [with and for God] is good; her lamp goes not out; but it burns on continually through the night [of trouble, privation or sorrow, warning away fear, doubt and distrust].” What would warn away fear, doubt and distrust? The word. Following the Word, having the Word as a top priority in your home, as a part of you, will warn away negativity. You speak the Word, you think the Word, you act the Word, you live the Word, and the Word is a part of your home.
We need to realize that the Word is continually around us. When we put our head on our pillows, we say, “God, you are my source, my God, and my protector and right now our home, life, children and everything around us is protected. I don’t have to fear, worry or be in any kind of turmoil.”
Many parents spend their time wondering if something is going to happen to their children. They had better trust the Word. I don’t care how old your children get; you’re not there all the time. Something can happen, day or night, anytime and anywhere. Of course, we don’t put our children in dangerous situations, by any means, but, we had better trust the Word.
The lamp of the Word goes not out. We must learn to go to sleep and allow the peace of God to work. (Psalm 127:2) The Word will sustain and hold our family through all situations. This brings a sense of peace and contentment. We know God is watching out for our family.
