Simple Financial Wisdom Part 1
May 11, 2010

1 Tim 6:10 “For the love of Money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from their faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows” The love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Greed is a part of dealing with every one of us in the financial realm. Nobody is immune to greediness; nobody is immune to wanting, wanting, wanting! You could say that you don’t want that or this, but if anybody started delving into your heart and if you were honest in your life and heart. Many of us act as martyrs, in the area of finances but it was false modesty and it was false humility and it wasn’t pleasing to God. God has a way that He wants us to understand money. Many of us out of our love of money, which says it’s a root of all kinds of evil, not just a particular one. Many have strayed away from the faith and have experienced great sorrow. Sorrows come from a lust of the things of this world in our heart and our minds. There is a place that we need to recognize that money does grab our hearts. 98% of marriages fight over money. Poor, rich, middle class, they all fight. Bottom line we fight over it because we are not in agreement, power, control, security and pure selfishness. “I want what I want.” They don’t want what you want. The love of money does have a part of every one of us in our, whether it’s daily or because some of us have lived and we have been growing and developing and really we have become stronger in the things of God. I wouldn’t say that there is not one person that has not had a fight over money, why? Because it’s tied to our heart and sometimes there are things we fight for, and it is not necessarily the right thing. We have to decide, I’m going to renew the spirit of my mind. The reason I’m saying this so strongly is, we have to acknowledge something, remember it says in Gal 6:4 to examine yourself. If you examine yourself, you can recognize you do have some of that, and then you have the possibility of changing something. You can renew the spirit of your mind and have something different. But if you always have this false image of up or this false sense of what you are suppose to be like as a Christian, that you are suppose to always act in a certain way and you act the way you think your suppose to act, but not the way your truly are in the abundance of your heart, then you’re really not having the fullness of what God wants us to have. Next week I will share with you smart truths on money and how to have God’s thoughts about it!
