Proverbs 31:21 “She fears not the snow for her family, for all her household are doubly clothed in scarlet.”
The car needs new tires, the kids must have new shoes, you need a winter coat, plus Christmas time has come and you need to buy this present and that present; the list goes on and on. Frustration, worry and doubt can set in and we find ourselves saying: “We don’t have any money.” What are we to do? Verse 21 is instructing us to plan, make budgets, think of the future. Wise women plan accordingly. When you know certain things are going to come up, plan for them. Then sit back with a smile and meet your family’s needs!
How do we make a plan?
1. Pray regularly, believe God for wisdom and for all your needs to be met, James 1:5, Mark 11:24
2. Think daily on God’s Word and His promises, Psalms 1:1-3
3. Pray in agreement with your spouse and/or friends, Matthew 18:19
4. Clearly write down your plan and vision, Habakkuk 2:2
Remember Rahab? When the spies went into the city, Rahab was told to let a scarlet thread out of her window. Israel came in to demolish the city. One house was left unharmed, because of the scarlet thread that Rahab let out of her window. It represented protection. Rahab was protected by being obedient to the Word and by bringing all of her family into her household. The spies had said, “If they are not in your house, they are not protected, and if you open the door and they go out into the street, they are not protected.” They had to be in the home to be protected. We, as virtuous women, can speak protection over our whole family. The principle of the protection around our family is that scarlet thread.
Our family can be protected by our godly actions and by speaking the Word we bring protection into our homes as saved women. We can speak safety over our whole family because we are the righteous. We are in right standing with God, and we can ask and demand rights of Him because of who we are in Him. Some of you live in fear, allowing yourselves to be frightened of the times.
Fear is the opposite of faith. Let’s get involved with faith, instead of fear. When a new situation comes up that we don’t know how to handle, that is the time to use our faith. Fear puts negativity into action. Why not turn it around and decide to have a little faith? Faith has got to be better than fear, so why not do the best we can with our faith, instead of with our fear? In every situation God is to be our protector. We had better trust in God, or we can find ourselves in bad situations.
God is our protector. Remember, the scarlet thread that is around us. We can choose whatever way we want to believe. It is our choice. Choose life!
