JUST SAY NO!
October 22, 2009

Matthew 5:37 “ But let your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes,’ and your ‘No,’ ‘No.’  For whatever is more than these is from the evil one.”

How many times have you been asked to do one or more different things, then became confused as to which thing you should be involved with?  Or you just say “yes” to everything and become overloaded and frustrated.

In order to take on a new thing we may have to drop another.  We need to ask the Lord, “Is this correct for me to do now?”  We each must pray and get a direction in our own hearts and then make our decision.  So, it is with every area of our life.  If we’re talking about a decision that is going to take up our time, thoughts, and talents, we have to really think it through and ask ourselves, “Is this right for me to do now?”  Don’t just procrastinate.  When we procrastinate we do nothing.  We don’t use the gifts and talents that God has placed within us.  We should already be aware of our particular gifts and our time schedule because we are preparing ourselves.

Be a “yes” or “no” woman.  Be willing to decide and follow through.  Then don’t blame other people for your life or your time schedule.  Nobody makes our time schedule but us. Are there areas in your life that you are indecisive about?  There may be some things that you are not ready to make a decision on.  What you can do is say, “Right now I am not ready to make an absolute decision.  That means I won’t think about it, discuss it, and I won’t bring it up for a length of time.”  Then put it on the back shelf and leave it!  By doing that you are taking it out of your functioning thinking.  If you need to make the decision, then make it.  Sometimes you make a wrong decision.  You can change wrong decisions and make them right.  But, if you make no decision, you don’t even get the bicycle rolling.  Personally, I am able to do twice as much today as I was a few years ago, because I know how to say yes and no.  I can do more for God, and so can you!
